The WRC recommended that a transport company and a school bus driver consider their dispute closed after the driver was removed from school bus duties when a child was left on the bus. The recommendation was dated 17 September 2024.
The driver was covering an unfamiliar route. The transport company supported his return, citing his 13 years’ experience, but its client would not allow him to drive school buses again. He remained in other driving work, which the adjudicator said was unsuitable to his circumstances and unsustainable long term. The driver and company told the WRC they were not in dispute, and the recommendation said no further action was required.
