The Workplace Relations Commission ruled that two equality complaints brought by Seán Considine against Limerick City And County Council were out of time and could not proceed. The decision was dated 28 August 2024. Considine, an executive engineer, alleged discrimination on disability, reasonable accommodation, employment conditions, gender and family status grounds. The council argued the complaints were late and that the issues had already been considered in earlier proceedings. Considine cited domestic stress and childcare issues in seeking an extension. The adjudicator found insufficient reasonable cause to extend the six-month time limit and also ruled the complaints could not be heard because the grounds had already been considered by the Labour Court under different legislation. The merits were not decided.
