The Workplace Relations Commission has ordered Tesco Ireland Limited to pay Shane Doheny €500 after finding it unlawfully deducted wages by removing premium payments for unsocial hours. The decision was dated 6 August 2025. Doheny told the WRC that he moved roles after his manager assured him he would keep his regular early starts and premium hours. Tesco relied on contract terms allowing changes to rosters and work practices, and its manager denied giving that assurance. The adjudicator accepted Doheny’s account and found the longstanding premium arrangement had been interfered with. The WRC considered only the six months before he lodged his complaint.
