The Workplace Relations Commission ruled it had no jurisdiction to hear Nicholas Raithby’s Payment of Wages complaint against Newark Cycles Ltd, finding the company and his employment were based in the UK. The decision was dated 28 August 2024. The company director attended the hearing, but Raithby did not. The director said the company was UK-registered, operated a retail outlet in the UK and had no connection with Ireland. The adjudicator said the company was not based in Ireland and Raithby was not employed there. The merits were not decided.
