WRC orders Ascend Legal Solutions to pay former CTO for notice, leave and wages

The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Ascend Legal Solutions Ltd to pay former employee Daniele Davi €17,683.32 gross in lieu of two months’ notice, €4,896.92 gross for untaken annual leave and €5,224.62 gross in unpaid wages. The decision was dated 28 August 2024. Davi worked as the company’s chief technology officer and Agile Transformation Lead. He said he received no notice and had not been paid for 1 to 18 October 2023. The company accepted it gave no notice and said it had no income or clients. The adjudicator said the Irish company appeared to have become insolvent and lacked the means to meet its commitments. The WRC found Davi was entitled to payment for leave he had accrued but not taken. It found a separate Payment of Wages complaint about notice duplicated his notice claim. The decision directed the company to pay the amounts due within 42 days.
