The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found Michael Stropek’s protected disclosure complaint against Er Travel Ltd t/a Easi Rent not well founded. The decision, dated 11 June 2024, was made by Adjudication Officer Gaye Cunningham.
Stropek said he was dismissed after raising concerns about break times and the length of his probation period. The company argued that the statutory protection against penalisation did not apply to a dismissal covered by unfair dismissal law.
The officer found the complaint misconceived under the Protected Disclosures Act because that Act’s provision did not apply to a dismissal covered by the Unfair Dismissals Act. She declared the complaint not well founded.
