The Workplace Relations Commission allowed Dejana Gagula’s appeal for statutory redundancy after finding she was made redundant when Les Byrne T/A El Vino ceased operating. The decision was dated 27 June 2024. Gagula had worked as a restaurant manager and said she heard nothing from the employer after the business closed. The WRC found she was entitled to a redundancy payment of two weeks’ pay for each year or part-year of service, plus one extra week, subject to her employment having been insurable. Her gross weekly wage for the calculation was €330.27, including regular overtime. The decision sets out the calculation basis, but does not state a total lump-sum payment.
