The Workplace Relations Commission found Szymon Kaluga entitled to a statutory redundancy payment after his former employer, O'Toole Logistics Ltd, had paid €4,000 towards his entitlement. The decision was dated 16 August 2024. Kaluga said the company had lost the contract on which he worked and promised to pay the remaining redundancy amount later, but it had not done so by the hearing. The WRC found that the loss of the contract meant the business for which he was employed had ceased. The company did not attend the hearing; the adjudicator declined its later request for a new hearing after finding that notice had been correctly issued.
