The WRC awarded €30,000 to a human resources and business manager after finding she was constructively dismissed. The decision, dated 13 June 2025, concerned her claim that the company’s conduct made it impossible for her to continue working.

The worker said she was demoted, faced unsubstantiated allegations and felt pressured to leave. She resigned after an internal grievance process. The company said it had raised performance concerns in reviews, arranged an independent grievance investigation and offered her an opportunity to appeal its outcome.

The adjudication officer found evidence that the company wanted to end her employment, including its handling of allegations and her demotion. The officer concluded that the company acted so unreasonably that continuing to work there was impossible. The offered appeal was not a genuine independent process. The officer declared the dismissal unfair and awarded compensation. The worker had secured alternative employment almost immediately, at a considerably lower salary and with fewer entitlements.
