The Workplace Relations Commission found that Karl Hegarty was not unfairly dismissed by Lsc Education Corporation Limited Leinster Senior College, after the school said he had operated a competing grind-school business without its consent. The decision was dated 26 June 2025. Hegarty argued that his business did not compete with the school and that the dismissal was disproportionate and procedurally unfair. The adjudicator concluded a reasonable employer could regard the services as competing and found that Hegarty’s destruction of work diaries requested during the investigation undermined his credibility. The complaint was not well-founded, and no award was made.
