The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found Michael Meade’s complaint against Roadbridge Ltd (In Liquidation) not well founded in a decision dated 10 June 2024. Meade sought a statutory redundancy payment after his job ended amid the company’s insolvency. The Department of Social Protection had refused his redundancy application because its records showed less than two years of continuous insurable employment in Ireland before his job ended. The WRC said it had no jurisdiction to hear an appeal of that decision under the complaint Meade filed. The merits of his statutory redundancy appeal were not decided. Meade said he was satisfied with €2,500 he had received under the Insolvency Payment Scheme for wage arrears, holiday pay and minimum notice.
