The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Loic Bernardi €17,538 after upholding complaints against RMI Interiors Ltd over wage underpayment and the failure to provide written employment terms. The decision was dated 4 June 2025.
Bernardi said he was promised an apprenticeship but was not registered or given the required training. The WRC found he should have been paid as a new entrant operative at €14.93 an hour under the construction sector employment order, and that wages had been underpaid. It ordered €15,000 for the wage complaint and €2,538 for the missing written statement. Two other complaints, concerning minimum wage and industrial relations, were withdrawn.
RMI’s owner and director said the business had closed and declined to take part; the company did not attend the hearings or submit evidence rebutting the complaints.
