The Workplace Relations Commission found Jason Sinnott was unfairly dismissed by GDP Transport Ltd and ordered the company to pay him €450 compensation. The decision was dated 3 May 2023. Sinnott had worked as a delivery driver. The company said his conduct and breaches of its policies led to his dismissal; he disputed the allegations and said he was not given a fair chance to respond. The adjudicator found serious flaws in the disciplinary process, but said Sinnott’s contribution to the reasons for the disciplinary sanctions, including dismissal, was overwhelming. The compensation was approximately one week’s wages. The adjudicator also found Sinnott had no wage loss, as he received notice pay and later earned more with a new employer.
