The Workplace Relations Commission directed Xs Direct Insurance Brokers to pay Neil Geraghty €1,125, less statutory deductions, after finding an unauthorised wage deduction. The decision was dated 4 May 2023. Geraghty challenged a 15% pay cut, saying the reduction was made without his agreement. The WRC found the cut was unilateral and that wages properly due had not been paid in full. The employer, which was in receivership, did not attend the hearing. The complaint was well founded under the Payment of Wages Act.
