WRC bars Bernadette Birch’s settled dismissal claim and disallows redundancy appeal

The Workplace Relations Commission said Bernadette Birch’s previously settled unfair dismissal complaint could not be heard again and disallowed her redundancy payment appeal. The decision was dated 22 September 2022. Birch said the settlement did not adequately compensate her for 20 years’ service and claimed she was entitled to redundancy pay. She confirmed that the dismissal complaint concerned the same circumstances as her earlier settled case, in which she had legal advice. She also confirmed she had not been made redundant.
