The Workplace Relations Commission found Lisa Buckley’s complaint against Flutter Entertainment Plc not well founded after she said reduced overtime cut her earnings when betting shops reopened during Covid-19 restrictions. The WRC decision was dated 11 November 2022. Buckley worked at the company’s Stoneybatter branch and said she had usually worked between 44 and 48 hours a week. Flutter said her contract required 40 hours and overtime depended on business needs and approval. The adjudication officer found Buckley’s overtime was regular and rostered, but not compulsory or contractually required. The officer accepted that losing the hours reduced her earnings, but found the unworked overtime was not wages properly payable under the Payment of Wages Act 1991.
