Gerard Hewitt was entitled to a statutory redundancy payment after his position as a plumber was made redundant, the Workplace Relations Commission ruled. The decision, dated 9 September 2022, set out the basis for calculating the payment but gave no lump-sum figure. Hewitt had worked for Hugh Blair t/a Hugh Blair Building Services since 1 November 1997. The parties agreed that his position became redundant on 1 April 2022, and the respondent did not dispute his entitlement. Hewitt worked three days a week at €150 gross per day, giving gross weekly pay of €450. The decision said the payment was subject to his having been in insurable employment for the relevant period and to a €600 weekly-pay ceiling.
