The Workplace Relations Commission found Darko Oreskovic’s unfair-dismissal complaint against West Wood Club Limited well founded and awarded him €4,320 compensation. The decision was dated 29 June 2022.
The company did not contest the claim. Oreskovic was out of work for nine weeks after his dismissal on 1 August 2021, then began working as a self-employed carpenter and kitchen fitter. He spent that period setting up his business and seeking work with construction companies; his monthly earnings later exceeded his former pay. The WRC considered the uncontested claim and evidence about his loss and efforts to limit it when making the award.
