The WRC recommended that a security company pay a worker €10,000 to resolve a dispute over workplace treatment and the handling of his grievance. The recommendation, made under section 13 of the Industrial Relations Acts 1969, was dated 15 July 2022.
The security guard alleged bullying, an assault by someone acting for the managing director, wage reductions and suspensions. He said the company had not properly investigated his grievance. The company did not attend the hearing.
The adjudication officer found that restarting the investigation would serve little purpose because the worker had left the job, but recommended compensation for the inadequate investigation and his treatment at work. The officer described the allegations as being at the more serious end of the scale.
