The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed three complaints by Carol Murphy against Mj Flood Ireland after finding that she was bound by a severance waiver. The decision was dated 10 June 2022. The complaints concerned unfair dismissal, information about her terms of employment and minimum notice. The WRC found that Murphy had signed the agreement after receiving legal advice and without pressure. It said the waiver applied to all three complaints. The unfair dismissal complaint was also outside the WRC’s jurisdiction because she referred it before her employment ended. The respondent said the agreement included an ex-gratia payment of €10,920, but that was part of the severance agreement, not an award by the WRC.
