The Workplace Relations Commission upheld Andris Vansovics’s unfair-dismissal complaint against Jordan Murray Transport Limited and awarded him €7,860.60, equivalent to 12 weeks’ pay. The decision was dated 29 September 2022.
Vansovics worked as a truck driver from May 2020 to August 2021. He said he was dismissed without notice or a fair process, had complained about excessive hours and had not received written employment terms. The respondent did not attend the hearing.
The WRC said there had been no investigation or disciplinary procedure and that Vansovics was not afforded natural justice. It also upheld his complaint that he was not paid statutory notice, awarding €655.05, and found he had not been given written terms of employment, awarding €1,310.10, equal to two weeks’ pay.
