The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Raymond Murray €1,500 after finding his employer changed his pay to a net arrangement without his agreement. The decision, dated 28 June 2022, concerned a complaint under the Payment of Wages Act. Murray said he had agreed to €550 gross a week, plus a €50 lunch allowance. The employer’s payroll representative said he had agreed to take home €454 a week, including the lunch expense. The adjudication officer found there was no contract clarifying gross pay and no proof Murray received payslips. The claim succeeded, and the WRC awarded compensation for breach of the legislation.
