The Workplace Relations Commission found Charlie Peronius entitled to a redundancy payment after his employment at Richard Mulligan trading as The Barbers, Maynooth ended when the business closed. The decision was dated 1 September 2022. Peronius said he was told there would be no job for him when he returned from holiday because the barbershop was closing. He said a job offer from the incoming owner involved different pay terms, so he did not accept it. Mulligan said the offer was on the same terms and conditions as before. The WRC found that the employment ended by reason of redundancy on 27 August 2021 and that Peronius was entitled to a lump sum payment. The decision sets out a gross weekly pay rate of €511.16 as the basis for calculating the entitlement.
