WRC rejects John J Sullivan’s unfair dismissal claim against Stepaside school

The Workplace Relations Commission found John J Sullivan was not unfairly dismissed by Stepaside Educate Together Secondary School. Sullivan said his dismissal was mainly because he was a union member and sought union representation. The school said it had concerns about his attendance at online classes and meetings and the supervision of a student. The adjudicator found the termination decision preceded the conversation about union representation and was based on performance concerns. The decision was dated 29 July 2022.
