The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Titin Limited to pay former IT manager Richard Mooney €13,347 in wages and €2,400 compensation after finding both complaints well founded. The decision was dated 8 April 2022.
Mooney worked for the company from 19 April to 20 July 2021 on an agreed annual salary of €58,000. He said he received €4,575.87 net in three stages, but was still owed wages, holiday pay and notice pay. The WRC found that €14,500 for three months’ pay, €1,208 for accrued leave and €1,208 for minimum notice were due. After crediting €3,569 already received, it ordered payment of €13,347.
The WRC could not adjudicate his €2,111.40 travel-expenses claim because expenses are excluded from the statutory definition of wages. It separately found that Mooney had not received written employment terms and ordered €2,400 compensation. Titin Limited did not attend the hearing despite being notified by registered post.
