The Workplace Relations Commission found a redundancy complaint by Brian Mathias against Plaza Tallaght Hospitality Limited was not well founded. The decision was dated 20 May 2022. Mathias sought a redundancy payment after being laid off when the Plaza Hotel closed for refurbishment in January 2020. He said he had sent the company an RP9 redundancy form in February 2020, but the company said it had no record of receiving it and maintained that his job remained available. The adjudication officer found the job was not redundant and that section 12A of the Redundancy Payments Act prevented a redundancy claim during the Covid-19 emergency period. The complaint was not well founded.
