The Workplace Relations Commission found that Stephen Doyle’s complaint against Permanent TSB was not well founded, in a decision dated 21 September 2021. Doyle said he lost an allowance of €843 a month after returning to his substantive role from a temporary acting Territory Sales Manager position. Permanent TSB said the role was temporary and that Doyle returned to his substantive post after an unsuccessful competition for permanent positions. The adjudication officer found no fundamental flaw in the recruitment process and concluded that the loss of the allowance was not an unlawful deduction under the Payment of Wages Act.
WRC rejects Stephen Doyle’s claim over loss of acting-up allowance
