Carlow County Council employee’s annual leave and public holiday pay complaints fail

By Niamh Kearney

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Workplace Relations Commission found Michael Morrin’s complaints about annual leave and public holiday pay not well founded. It considered claims that overtime and allowances should have been included in the calculations for the period from 22 December 2020 to 21 June 2021. The decision was dated 25 July 2022. The WRC found overtime and the eating-on-site allowance were excluded from annual leave and public holiday pay calculations. It also found that the acting allowance had been paid for annual leave in the period, but was not payable for public holiday calculations. Morrin’s claims for any further annual leave payment relating to the acting allowance fell outside the WRC’s jurisdiction.
