The Workplace Relations Commission found Michael Murphy entitled to a redundancy lump sum after his employment with Fastnet Recruitment Ltd ended. The decision was dated 29 September 2021. Murphy said he had received notice of redundancy but was later told he would not receive the payment because he had secured a direct job with the company where he had been placed. Fastnet Recruitment Ltd said the move was an agreed transfer and that he had not been dismissed. The adjudication officer found that the required transfer arrangements had not been established and that Fastnet Recruitment Ltd had not sent the written notice required when Murphy gave notice to leave early. The claim succeeded. The lump sum is based on his service from 11 February 2016 to 21 June 2020 and gross weekly pay of €1,258.62, subject to insurable employment.
