The Workplace Relations Commission found Padraig Keyes’s unfair-dismissal complaint against Bord Na Mona not well founded, upheld his complaint over written terms and ordered the company to provide a written statement. His redundancy complaint was withdrawn. The decision was dated 7 June 2022. Keyes said he had worked as a seasonal general operative from 2012 and moved to a permanent contract in May 2019. He argued that his employment ended when he was laid off in January 2021 and sought reinstatement. Bord Na Mona said Keyes remained a permanent employee in a seasonal role and that the layoff followed its usual arrangements. The WRC found that he remained employed and returned to work in June 2021. It also found he had not received written terms, but was not unduly prejudiced, and made no compensation award.
