The Workplace Relations Commission found that John P Collins was not discriminated against on disability grounds by Dalemill Ltd Kilcohan Stores after he was told he would not be served without a face covering. The decision, dated 25 July 2022, concerned his claim under the Equal Status Acts.

Collins said he was exempt from the face-covering requirement and alleged that people from an ethnic minority were allowed into the shop without masks. The shop owner said Collins had never worn a mask and had become confrontational, and that face coverings were required to protect staff and customers. The WRC found Collins provided no evidence about his disability or evidence that he was treated less favourably on disability grounds, so he had not established a prima facie case of discrimination.
