The WRC ordered Reads Design & Print to pay Marian Minarik €224 after finding the company had failed to pay him for two days’ work. The decision was dated 20 September 2021. Minarik said he worked seven hours on each of 23 and 24 November 2020 as a graphic designer, at an agreed rate of €16 an hour. The company did not attend the hearing. The adjudication officer accepted Minarik’s uncontested evidence that he worked both days and was not paid, and found the sum was properly payable. The WRC found the non-payment was an unlawful deduction under the Payment of Wages Act and ordered payment of €224, subject to lawful deductions.
