WRC finds Roy Farrelly resigned after Applegreen shift dispute

The WRC found that Roy Farrelly was not unfairly dismissed by Petrogas Applegreen, ruling that he had resigned. Adjudication Officer Pat Brady dated the decision 2 September 2021. The dispute followed proposed changes to Mr Farrelly’s shifts and working hours. After an initial misunderstanding, the company restored him to the roster and invited him to return, offering to discuss the roster. Mr Farrelly said he would return only if his hours were guaranteed to remain unchanged, then handed in his notice. The officer also found that Mr Farrelly’s comments contributed to the problem.
