The Workplace Relations Commission found Animal Control Unit’s disciplinary process procedurally sound and recommended against a Dog Warden who sought to have a verbal warning set aside. The recommendation was dated 15 September 2021. The worker said the warning followed a heated meeting about on-call duties and that the disciplinary process was unfair. Animal Control Unit said his rights had been respected and the warning was proportionate. The WRC said his sick leave after the incident explained the delay in investigating it. It also found that the failure to re-interview witnesses was not a procedural flaw, and that the appeal had considered the issues he raised.
