WRC rules Tony Conry’s unfair dismissal complaint out of time

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Tony Conry’s unfair dismissal complaint against Vendor Finance Ireland Limited was brought outside the time limit. The decision, dated 27 June 2022, said the merits were not decided. Conry said the redundancy selection criteria lacked transparency and that he was not offered alternative roles. The company argued that the complaint was one day late. The adjudication officer acknowledged the distress caused by Conry’s father’s illness but found no compelling explanation for not filing during the five months after his employment ended.
