WRC awards security officer €2,500 over transfer of employment terms

The WRC awarded security officer Bernard Meehan €2,500 after finding that Secureway at Risk Security Group Limited trading as SAR Security failed to preserve his transferred employment terms. The decision was dated 19 October 2021. Meehan had worked at the Rotunda Hospital for 18 years. The adjudication officer found that SAR Security also failed to give his representative information before the transfer. The officer also upheld Meehan’s complaint over a fortnightly training allowance that stopped even though he continued training new staff, directing the company to pay €465. SAR Security also failed to preserve his overtime terms: Meehan had been entitled to overtime after 39 hours, but the higher rate was applied only after 48 hours. The officer directed the company to pay €55, estimated as the net value of the overtime loss.
