WRC rejects Denis Babic’s €770.69 unpaid wages claim

The Workplace Relations Commission found Denis Babic’s unpaid wages complaint against Reginald’s Tower Bar and Restaurant ltd not well founded. The decision, dated 5 October 2021, concerned a claim for €770.69. Babic said he worked as a kitchen porter from January to August 2020, averaging 48 hours a week, but was paid for only 35. The company said it had paid all wages due and described the complications of its pandemic wage support payments and variable hours. After reviewing the pay slips and wage records, the adjudication officer found no shortfall for hours worked. The Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme had reduced Babic’s net pay, but not his wages.
