WRC finds Izabela Duszkiewicz’s dismissal by Gategourmet Dublin was fair

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Gategourmet Dublin fairly dismissed Izabela Duszkiewicz by reason of redundancy. The decision was dated 8 September 2022. Duszkiewicz, who had more than 12 years’ service, challenged her scores on the redundancy selection matrix, including for attendance, timekeeping, versatility and job performance. The company said the pandemic’s impact on aviation led it to reduce its workforce. The adjudication officer accepted that a genuine redundancy situation existed, found that the union had been consulted on the criteria and considered the manager’s assessment credible and persuasive. The selection process was found fair and adequately objective.
