The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed Mark. J. Savage’s Equal Status complaint against an anonymised councillor, finding it misconceived and vexatious. Adjudication Officer Brian Dalton dated the decision 5 May 2022.

Savage said he was discriminated against on religious grounds after asking the councillor to raise concerns about public toilets at a council meeting. The WRC said the complaint sought the councillor’s support for a proposition it described as homophobic and discriminatory, and dismissed it under section 22 of the Equal Status Act. The respondent was anonymised in the decision.
