WRC disallows former director’s redundancy appeal

The Workplace Relations Commission disallowed Michael Naughton’s appeal after he confirmed receiving his statutory redundancy entitlement; the merits of his claim for an additional ex gratia payment were not decided because the adjudicator found there was no further jurisdiction. Naughton, a former senior director at Kentz Management Ltd, said other employees had received additional ex gratia redundancy payments and he had not. The decision described statutory redundancy as two weeks’ pay per year of service plus a week, subject to a €600 weekly cap. It was dated 16 September 2022.
