The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Trinity College Dublin to pay Marian Lynch €289 after finding it failed to pay a contractual salary increment. The decision was dated 28 June 2021.

Lynch began direct employment with the university in May 2020 after working as an agency employee. She said her contract entitled her to move to the next point on the pay scale from October, but the university argued that employees had to be directly employed by 1 April and spend a minimum period in the role.

The officer found no accessible documentation setting out an April eligibility date and considered Lynch's expectation reasonable given her prior service. The officer also found no evidence that salary increases were withheld for unsatisfactory performance. The €289 covered the increment due from 1 October to 17 December 2020.
