WRC awards Brian O’Sullivan €5,200 over missing employment terms

The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Brian O’Sullivan €5,200 after finding Hallquar Engineering Services Ltd failed to give him written employment terms. Adjudication Officer Marguerite Buckley dated the decision 8 November 2021. The award was equivalent to four weeks’ remuneration. O’Sullivan worked as a digger operator. The company acknowledged that he had not received the required employment information, saying the staff responsible for issuing it were on sick leave when he started. The WRC found his complaint well founded. A separate annual-leave complaint was withdrawn after the payment was made.
