The Workplace Relations Commission found that C & C Security Ltd unfairly dismissed security officer Wasay Mohammed Abdul and directed it to pay him €5,292 for loss of earnings. The decision was dated 30 November 2021. Abdul said he was removed from his site and dismissed without warning or alternative work. The company said a client had requested his removal and Covid-19 restrictions made it difficult to place him elsewhere. The WRC found the company could have placed him on the Pandemic Unemployment Payment while arranging alternative work. The WRC also found the working-time and redundancy complaints were not well founded. It granted two weeks’ pay in lieu of notice; the other two minimum-notice references duplicated that complaint.
