The Workplace Relations Commission found Jan Roj’s unfair dismissal complaint against Reynolds Logistics Limited was not well founded, but upheld his complaint over unpaid notice pay. The decision was dated 29 November 2021. Roj, an HGV driver, was dismissed by reason of redundancy after work on the company’s aviation contract fell sharply during the Covid-19 pandemic. The adjudication officer found there was a genuine redundancy, Roj had been fairly selected and the employer had acted reasonably. Reynolds Logistics conceded it had paid one week’s notice pay when Roj was due two. The WRC directed the company to pay the equivalent of one week’s pay.
