The Workplace Relations Commission found Sarah McNamara entitled to statutory redundancy and two weeks’ minimum notice pay after Barnhall Hair Salon Limited made her redundant in June 2020. The decision was dated 14 June 2022. McNamara had worked at the salon for two and a half years. The company said pandemic-related difficulties forced it to make its workforce redundant without notice. The WRC found her job had been made redundant and directed payment of €1,100, equal to two weeks’ pay. It also found she was entitled to statutory redundancy based on her employment from 24 November 2017 to 11 June 2020 and gross weekly pay of €550. The decision does not give a figure for that redundancy entitlement. Two duplicate complaints were withdrawn.
