WRC grants Pedro Castilho statutory redundancy entitlement

Pedro Castilho is entitled to a statutory redundancy payment after the closure of Sion Hill Restaurant Ltd, the WRC decided. The decision, dated 26 July 2021, says the entitlement is based on his service from 8 April 2016 to 12 October 2019, subject to his PRSI contribution status. Castilho had worked as a waiter at the restaurant in north Dublin. The respondent did not attend the hearing; Castilho attended and represented himself. The adjudication officer found the employer had ceased operations where he worked and that he had completed more than two years of service.
