WRC awards Keith Kennedy €1,750 over missing employment terms; unfair dismissal claim fails

The WRC awarded Keith Kennedy €1,750 after finding Hahnel Industries Hahnel Industries failed to provide written employment terms. His separate unfair dismissal complaint was dismissed, with the Adjudication Officer finding that his job ended because of redundancy. The decision was dated 12 July 2021. Kennedy worked as a brand manager from February 2016 to September 2020. The company accepted that it had not given him a contract. He also argued that he had not been told about the sales figures or redundancy selection process, and that alternatives to redundancy were available. The officer found that a redundancy situation existed because the department had accumulated losses, but said Kennedy should have been told earlier that it might close if sales did not improve.
