WRC rejects Peter Maunsel’s unfair dismissal complaint against Glenpatrick Spring Water Company

The Workplace Relations Commission found Peter Maunsel’s unfair dismissal complaint against Glenpatrick Spring Water Company Limited was not well founded, ruling that he was a contractor rather than an employee. The decision was dated 25 March 2022. Maunsel said the company told him in May 2020 that building and maintenance work would be put out to tender, and he could bid for the work he had been doing. The company argued that he was an independent contractor. The adjudication officer found he could take on other workers, make a profit or loss, and sometimes turn down jobs.
