The WRC found Jacqueline Byrne’s gender and age discrimination complaint against the Department of Justice was brought outside the statutory time limit. The merits were not decided. The decision was dated 16 May 2022. Byrne alleged she was not given appropriate training before failing her three-month review. The Department argued the training ended on 9 January 2020, more than six months before the complaint was received on 20 September 2020. The WRC found no established act of discrimination within that six-month period and no reasonable cause to extend the time limit. It noted that her appeal-process concerns were not included in the complaint form.
