The WRC directed EMI Restaurants Limited, in Liquidation to pay Yasin Saricam €500 after finding his complaint about unpaid wages and related entitlements well founded. Adjudication Officer Catherine Byrne dated the decision 23 June 2021. Saricam worked as a kitchen porter at the company’s central Dublin restaurant from January to March 2020. The WRC found he was owed €1,213.88 in wages, holiday pay, public holiday pay and a Sunday allowance, but was not entitled to notice pay because he had worked for the employer for fewer than 13 weeks. The respondent and its liquidator did not attend the hearing. The liquidator said the claim had been paid through the Department of Social Protection. Saricam had received €672 the day before the hearing, and the adjudicator directed the company to pay a further €500 in net compensation.
